My Wee Apartment

San Francisco is notorious for having a ridiculously-priced cost of living. Apartments also tend to be small {I call them quaint, it sounds better}. My apartment is no different. We have a small one-bedroom in one of the newer San Francisco neighborhoods and even though it’s pretty compact, we have tried to add details to make our place fee like home

Here is a look around my apartment.

// I added some brightly colored throw pillows to our hand-me-down couch. Pops of color are nice to offset the foggy atmosphere in the city.

// We bought {and I put together} a tall and slim book shelf. It doesn’t take up a lot of room, but we are able to display photos, books, and cutesy decorative items. I love our mosaic candle and little bird cage.

// I hung up five strings of yarn along one wall where I like to display our cards. Our families are big on sending cards for special occasions {and just to say I Love You}. I like to be able to look at them every day. I like change them out every once in a while as we receive more cards {and I’m a firm believer in still sending greeting cards to loved ones}.

// I love my graduated lidded jars. I keep things in there that I use most frequently {powdered sugar, white sugar, flour, and pasta}. We have to use our counter space wisely because our kitchen is rather small.

// I put some pretty decorations in the bathroom. I love to look at my “relax” sign in the morning; it’s a good way to start my day. I also love to light candles to add a warm ambiance to my home.

// These lantern lights were hung all around our wedding reception. I kept a couple strands to hang in the bedroom. These are nice to plug in while we watch a movie and remind me of our very special wedding day.

We are just renters so we aren’t allowed to paint or change the floors so I try to keep personal touches and decorations all around the apartment.

Home is where the heart is.
