Happy Hump Day! {This is one of my favorite commercials right now}
{via}
Anyway… Paul and I love pizza. We especially love getting creative at home and making new pizza combinations. Our favorite so far is BBQ and Bacon pizza, yum! I thought that I would share our simple pizza {at home} recipe. We don’t use any exact measurements for this recipe so feel free to add as many toppings and as much cheese as you’d like!
Ingredients:
BBQ sauce
Pizza dough from Trader Joe’s {any dough will do though}
Olive oil
Spray oil
Oregano
Bacon {thick cuts work best}
Grated mozzarella
Grated white cheddar {we used aged Vermont cheddar}
// Preheat your oven to 450F
// Let the dough sit out for at least 20 minutes {preferably 30 min} on a floured surface. This makes it easier to knead and stretch.
// Fry up some thick cut bacon. Don’t let it get too crispy as it will cook a little more in the oven. {Save that delicious fat for another time}
// Spread out the dough on a greased pan or pizza stone with cornmeal. We like to use a cookie sheet because we can get the dough pretty thin.
// Spread a heaping portion of BBQ sauce all over the dough. Add the mozzarella, add the cut up bacon, top with the fancy cheese of your choice {cheddar, BBQ, and bacon go very well together!}. Sprinkle with oregano and drizzle the top and crust with olive oil.
// Cook at 450F for 13-14 minutes.
// Set aside for 3-5 minutes. Slice and enjoy! We like to eat our pizza with shaved parmesan and ranch dressing.
This recipe is simple, delicious, and allows you to get creative. We’ve made tomato, spinach, and goat cheese pizza, BBQ chicken pizza, ham and pineapple pizza, classic cheese pizza, and much more. We usually get at least two meals each from this recipe!
What’s your favorite pizza combination? What are your favorite time-saving recipes?
