Word of the day

Word of the day :: Simplicity

Happy Friday everyone! The other night I was reading to Emma and it was a truly wonderful little snapshot moment in our lives. She was reaching out towards the book and the three of us were completely engrossed in the beauty of that simple moment on a Wednesday night. Today’s word of the day encapsulates it all.

[sim-ˈpli-sə-tē] - noun; origin - Middle English, Old French

1. The state, quality, or an instance of being simple.

2. Freedom from complexity, intricacy, or division into parts.

Syn - plainess; honesty.

Natalie Babbitt says it perfectly: “Like all magnificent things, it’s very simple.”

We could all use a little more simplicity in our daily lives, don’t you think?

Have a wonderful weekend.

Word of the day :: Faith

Happy Friday my friends! And a very happy Pi Day! {Nerd alert!} Whew, I have been quite exhausted lately, but I have come to expect it and I try to power through. It’s getting harder and harder to sleep and I am beyond ready to meet my little one. Today’s word of the day has been filling my heart lately.

[feyth] - noun; origin - Middle English

1. confidence or trust in a person or thing

2. belief that is not based on proof

Syn - trust; belief; confidence.

I am looking forward to this new chapter in our lives. I have faith that I will have a smooth labor and delivery. I have faith that we will have a heathy baby girl. I have faith in my innate abilities to mother this little one. It can be daunting and sometimes I worry that I will not be able to do this, but faith must prevail. I am confident that we will be wonderful parents. I believe that we have a wonderful support system of family and friends. I have faith that God will bless us and that bringing this beautiful baby into the world is written in the stars. Whenever I start to panic or doubt myself, I will remember to keep the faith.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! What does faith mean to you?

Word of the day :: Alacrity

I am so excited to share with you my new blogging series - Word Of The Day. I will be sharing a word which resonates with me and on which I want to focus. I hope to be inspired to live more thoughtfully and purposely while ruminating on this week’s word of the day.

[uh-lak-ri-tee] - noun; origin - Latin

1. cheerful readiness, promptness, or willingness.

2. liveliness; briskness.

Syn - eagerness; fervor; zeal.

This week’s word of the day reminds me of the importance of living enthusiastically and with eagerness. It becomes easy to dread what may come and to hide in the shadows instead of focusing on the positive. Sometimes, all it takes an attitude shift. I may not be able to change how things turn out or what will happen, but I can definitely change my reactions and attitude. I will focus on approaching situations with alacrity and I will be receptive to accept new challenges.

What does alacrity mean to you? What is your word of the day?
