Okay, I know I’m technically a little premature, but I don’t even care.
Holy moly, can you believe it’s already September?? I always love this time of year. Fall is almost upon us and the Christmas season is just around the corner. This time of year is filled with warm drinks, cold noses, and giving thanks. Paul and I spent this weekend with some family and I loved just taking some time to catch up with them and unplug.
So today, I give you my obligatory post about what I love about the Fall and what I look forward to this season.
// UM HELLO?? Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I count down every year to this blessed release. I was talking to my friend Natalie today and she said she allows herself one holiday drink per season, and I was like, PSSH, how about one every week. Sugar content be damned. I love you Starbucks, probably more than appropriate, but there, I said it.
// Changing colors. Growing up, my street had many big trees lining the sidewalk. Every year the leaves would change and we would spend many hours playing in the fallen leaves. I miss those big, leafy trees in the city. Maybe I’ll have my mom send me a big orange leaf in the mail.
// The holiday spirit. Although we do come across the Scrooges of the world during this time of year who constantly honk during holiday traffic and never stop to appreciate anything…we shall forget about them. Fall brings a refocus on family, the spirit of giving, and a time to be grateful.
// The plethora of baked goods. I bake more during this season and baked goods are a common gift shared between friends, coworkers, and family. A family friend of ours makes these heavenly lemon bars and I look forward to inhaling eating them every year.
// Spending time with family. I REALLY hope to make it back down to LA for Thanksgiving this year. This past Spring, Paul and I brought our car up to SF and that means we can avoid Thanksgiving flights this year. Fingers crossed.
// Halloween! I have a great idea for a couple’s costume this year. Stay tuned!
// That feeling in the air. Do you all know what I’m talking about? That feeling and smell in the air that hits you and makes you feel that the holiday season is upon us. It stops you in your tracks and as you take a deep breath, you think, finally, Fall is here. Over the years, I’ve stopped Paul many times and exclaimed…“Do you smell it?? It’s Christmas."
What are you looking forward to this Fall? What are your favorite seasonal things?
P.S. I just watched the Disneyland Halloween commercial. I need to go there ASAP.
