So as you can tell, I fell off the blogging radar this past week. I was experiencing quite a gripping sense of ennui and decided to take a week off from my computer. I find that I get a general sense of listlessness when I spend too much time on social media so instead I spent the week taking long walks, enjoying the Indian summer of SF, re-reading The Hunger Games Trilogy, and relaxing.
* * * * * * *
But any who, my lovely friend Lena over at Root and Blossom has nominated me for a Liebster Award! She is so sweet and always takes the time to read all my bloggy ramblings.
Traditionally, this award is given to blogs with less than 200 followers and I’m very honored to have been nominated.
The “Rules”:
1 // Thank your nominator by linking back
2 // Answer the 11 questions posted by your nominator
3 // Make a list of 11 facts about yourself
4 // Nominate 5 (or more up and coming bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.
5 // Provide a list of 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
6 // Publish your post and contact the blogger who nominated you and the bloggers you nominated.
*I’m going to make this a 2 part post. I will answer the questions in this post then write another post later nominating my favorite bloggers and coming up with questions for them.*
Questions by Lena:
1. What’s the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
On the whole, I’m willing to try a lot of different foods. Chocolate meat is one of the weirder things I’ve eaten. It’s a Filipino food where the meat is cooked in blood and it looks brown when it’s cooked.
2. If you had to live this week over again, would you change anything? If so, what would that be?
I wouldn’t change anything. I don’t believe in wishing for things to be different. Even in the small things, fate and randomness are in control.
3. Which kitchen appliance could you not live without?
Besides the obvious, refrigerator and coffee maker, I could not live without my Cuisinart panini maker. Seriously, that thing is a God-send.
4. Name a gift you will never forget.
My gold ring from my Godfather. It was his Grandmother’s wedding band. It’s from the 1910s and is very meaningful to me. It reminds me of the eternity of love - between spouses and between family.
5. What is your earliest memory?
I used to wear this frilly white slip with a full skirt when I was very young (like 3-4). I wanted to wear it everywhere and everyday. I have distinct memories of bouncing around the house wearing it.
6. Pearls or diamonds or neither?
Both! I’m a sucker for beautiful jewelry.
7. Favorite clothing brand?
I have a few that I go to all the time - I love American Eagle jeans and anything from Gap. I’m a fan of buying quality basics at Banana Republic and J.Crew but cute tops and accessories from where ever. One thing I am known for though is handbags. I will pay good money on a quality handbag. I use these every day and I truly believe that they are a good investment.
8. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I’m a purest. Dinner with my loved ones. I want to be able to sit and talk and have a good time.
9. Do you like salty or sweet?
Mmm, both! I love salty foods {hello kettle chips} and sweet foods {ice cream and I have a serious love affair going on}. But I also love salty and sweet together! Salted caramel and chocolate covered pretzels are a couple favorites.
10. What is your biggest dream/goal/aspiration?
To be a good wife, mother, daughter, and member of society. I want to exude love, generosity, and faithfulness. I want to be a strong partner for my husband, teach my children about God and how to love, take care of my parents, and contribute to my community.
11. Coffee or tea?
Both. I love my morning coffee and holiday latte and I love my afternoon tea and cookies. :]
Now for my “11” facts:
1. I love jumping out from behind things to scare my husband. I’m so far 2 for 10,983 in successful scares.
2. I truly believe that different water brands taste differently and I have preferences for specific brands.
3. I cry at least once a day {Usually due to a moving commercial or greeting card}.
4. I am strangely proud of my loud burps.
5. I will not eat cauliflower, even if you paid me.
6. I have a perfect circle of freckles under my right eye.
7. I am incredibly proud and protective of my family.
8. My direct ancestor was the first president of the Philippines and played a huge role in Filipino independence from Spain {Emilio Aguinaldo}.
9. I love to sing {and I think I have a pretty good voice}.
10. I’m deathly allergic to strawberries.
11. I must sleep in a cocoon of pillows.
Stay tuned for my nominations. :]
Have a great week everyone!
