Motherhood

Welcome April & a to-do list

Happy April 1st everyone! Wow, can you believe that it is already April? I feel like March happened in the blink of an eye. I am 37 weeks pregnant today! And now that it is April, I can officially say that our baby is due THIS MONTH.

Yesterday was my first official day of maternity leave and I was able to get a lot done around the apartment. My feet were swollen to twice their natural size by the end of the day, but I was on a mission. I still have a few more things on my to-do list to get ready for baby but then we can just await her arrival. Hopefully, everything will be completed by this weekend.

// Write our birth plan.

// Pack our hospital bags and the baby’s diaper bag.

// Return/exchange a few shower gifts.

// Purchase the last few things on the baby registry.

// Install the car seat.

// Get some rest.

Today, I have another OB/GYN appointment and Paul is working from home so he can go with me. I cannot wait to meet our little April flower!

Pregnancy belly {8 months}

One. Month. To. Go.

Today, I am eight months pregnant and beyond ready to meet our little one! We are still preparing our apartment and getting everything ready for her big debut. I am looking forward to our second baby shower at my mom’s house at the end of March! I am feeling like a stuffed turkey {booo}, but I love seeing her grow.

Baby is the size of a coconut/honeydew melon and weighs over 5 pounds. This next month will be all about weight gain as her major organs are fully developed.

She has a definite pattern of movements. She usually moves around the same times each day, especially at night when I want to go to sleep. Ha ha, you are so cute little one.

The only comfortable clothing I can wear are maternity clothes or Paul’s oversized shirts and tennis shorts. Basically, I cannot stand anything pressing on my stomach or pelvis.

I am pretty much exhausted and achy all the time. Sleep? What’s that? I am looking forward to a few weeks of rest before my due date and everything gets crazy.

As of my last check up, I have gained about 16 pounds. I have another check up this afternoon, so I will get another update on my stats.

I have been eating my weight in cookies. Seriously, I cannot get enough. It’s pretty amazing how many I can shovel down in one sitting. Should I enter an eating contest or would that be a bit much?

After this week I will start packing my hospital bag and making sure everything is ready. We will be down to the last minute for some things, but hopefully after the shower we will have everything we need.

I cannot wait to meet you precious baby!

Pregnancy update | 32 Weeks

Woo hoo, 32 weeks! It is amazing how time feels like it is simultaneously flying by and slowing down. When I think about all the things we still need to do and get, I feel like we do not have any time left. But when I think about meeting our precious baby girl, time cannot move fast enough. Weird, eh?

At 32 weeks, I am feeling quite suffocated and uncomfortable. It is a rare moment indeed when I feel entirely comfortable. Yeah, that “glow” you are seeing is really just sweat. Sleep is becoming more and more difficult. I have been waking up at odd hours with a busy mind and of course, frequent trips to the bathroom. My back, feet, legs, arms, and shoulders { pretty much everything} are achy.

Though the physical discomforts are increasing, I am handling it pretty well. Knowing that all this discomfort is for this amazing gift of life makes it entirely more bearable. Cheesy, I know.

I had another ultrasound and OB visit last week. The wee one is nearly 4 pounds already! Apparently, she has already settled head down. I think she enjoys having her head cradled. My doc now wants me to start coming in every other week.

Hello blurry little princess.

It’s been about four weeks since my last pregnancy list update so here it goes!

HOW FAR ALONG? 32 weeks.

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 16.4 lbs {as of my appointment last week}, doc says keep eating since I’m still below average for this stage. She wants me to pack on the extra weight for breastfeeding.

MATERNITY CLOTHES? I bought a few more maternity blouses last weekend. It’s nice to wear clothes that comfortably fit over this watermelon.

STRETCH MARKS? None.

SLEEP:Sleep? What’s that? I have the combination insomnia of can’t fall asleep and can’t stay asleep.

MISS ANYTHING? Getting comfortable while I am resting on the couch or sleeping.

MOVEMENT: She is the QUEEN of movement. She has about 4-6 crazy acrobat sessions per day with many stretches in between. Her kicks to my hips are actually quite painful.

FOOD CRAVINGS: MILK! And everything that goes with it {cookies and cereal especially}.

ANYTHING MAKING YOU QUEASY OR SICK? Strong smells. People, when it comes to perfume, less is more.

SEX: Girl.

SYMPTOMS: Heart burn, back ache, pelvic pain, round ligament pain, frequent urination, head ache, slight swelling of my hands and feet, anxiety, hot flashes, and nesting.

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT? Finally popped out!

WEDDING RINGS ON OR OFF? On, although they are a bit snug.

HAPPY OR MOODY MOST OF THE TIME: Excited but anxious. I just want to hold her already!

LOOKING FORWARD TO: Picking out a middle name, getting the rest of our baby items, and our second baby shower at the end of March.

San Francisco baby shower

My good friends Natalie and Grace hosted my San Francisco Baby Shower this past Saturday and it was truly amazing. I am so grateful for the friends and family who celebrated with us.

Here are just a few of my favorites from the shower.

You could often find me by the desserts.

The best hosts ever.

The three of us are undeniably blessed to have all these wonderful people in our lives.

Pregnancy belly {7 months}

Wow! Today, I am 7 months along. What an amazing 7 months it’s been too. I cannot believe that we are on the home stretch. I have definitely left the honeymoon phase of pregnancy and have entered the heartburn-backache-cannot-get-comfortable phase of pregnancy. The nesting is also in full force. If I’m not cleaning and organizing, I’m putting together furniture or obsessing about what else we need to buy and hoping more of our registry items get purchased.

I’ve been doing more research on my potential birth plan, what items to make sure I have ready to go, and what to pack for the hospital. It’s just incredible to think we will be brining her home in 2 months.

Baby is the size of an acorn squash - about 15.2 to 16.7 inches and 2.5-3.8 pounds.

She is putting on the pounds and fat but will still triple in weight before she arrives.

It’s getting a little more cramped in there but her movements are still getting even stronger. Some of her kicks and jabs actually hurt, but somehow I still find it the most beautiful thing on the planet.

I am running out of clothes to wear. My waist has disappeared and I only have about 3-5 usable outfits at this point. Paul and I are going to hit up a maternity store this weekend so I can stop feeling like a stuffed calzone.

I don’t really know how much weight I’ve officially gained so far. I have another OB appointment next week so I will find out my statistics then.

We had our first baby shower this weekend and I had a blast. I definitely cried a few times and I think I ate at least 6 mini cupcakes. I’m looking forward to my second one in March.

I am in the process of finalizing my official maternity leave - hello stress. I know it will all work out in the end though {fingers crossed}.

The physical symptoms have definitely gotten worse. Between the heartburn, back pain, and general physical exhaustion - I am a walking ball of misery. But again, it’s pretty stinking beautiful misery - what is wrong with me?

As I write this, all I can think about is eating a cookie, ooo and cake, and ice cream, and watermelon smoothies, and real Mexican coke… and basically everything.

And to all you mommies out there, I will be soliciting guest posts and general motherhood and baby advice for my blog for when the baby comes. Please let me know if you are interested! I will appreciate all the advice and support!

Don’t forget to check out previous month here!
