The Best of

I used to do a links I love round up kind of post and I really enjoyed sharing some gems from around the web. Last week I was inspired to do an update/remix on that series and I came up with this one - The Best of - yay!

I wanted to be able to share some highlights from my week, articles I've enjoyed reading, recipes I've tried, a favorite Instagram I've shared, a post from the archives, online shops that makes me swoon, a post from a friend's blog - anything! I haven't decided if this will be weekly, monthly, or whenever I feel like it - I'll see where this series takes me. I hope you enjoy looking back at the best of the web with me.

From the archives // So I had a baby
Of course I am in baby preparation mode and I am (impatiently) waiting our son's arrival. This waiting game feels different this time around so I thought I'd re-read Emma's birth story (a million times and cry).

From Instagram // Morning hair
I had a rough day on Wednesday so we tried resetting yesterday. While her behavior was not different, my attitude was and it helped.

From the web // Daniel Tiger helps develop emotional and social skills
Whew! Now I don't feel so guilty about all that Netflix watching (wink wink, nudge nudge). Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood has been one of Emma's favorites since she started caring about TV. A recent study has shown that the children who watch the show exhibit higher levels of empathy, self efficacy, and the ability to recognize emotions. Pretty sweet.

A recipe // 8 Classic Overnight Oats recipes
I've done it. I have found the holy grail of overnight oats recipes. I've had the classic recipe about five times since I discovered this recipe and I am seriously in love. I think I'll be relying on this and the other variations when baby boy comes. YUM.

A shop // Earth and Mirth Shop
These wooden and knit baby items are making me so happy. I want to order a rattle and a teether (and a bonnet and everything). I can't wait for my baby boy to have one.

From a blog // On the morality of choosing to be a working mom by Whole Parenting Family
My friend Nell is always writing the best pieces, I swear. This one really hit home for me though. Now that I been at school full-time, been home full-time, and now, been working part-time as a mom, I have had a full spectrum of emotions about being being a working mom. Right now I am at piece with our family's decision. Nell really nails it when she said that working is not a morality issue and I am equally crazed when people say it is.

I hope you have enjoyed this best of round up. Happy Friday!

Lately on the interwebs

I’ve had an absolutely insane-o morning already which made my tummy curl into knots. Stuff happens sometimes ya know? So instead of the relaxing morning off I had planned, my day off started a little late. Oh well, that’s life. ANY WHO…

I wanted to share some link-a-doos I’ve found on the interwebs lately. As I spent most of my commute combing the world wide web, I’ve found some good links for you to send you off into your weekend.

This beautiful print published on the Ruche blog this month. I was swooning all over the place.

Speaking of JK Rowling, some exciting news came our way when she announced a Halloween-inspired Harry Potter short story coming our way.

If I have any time to run to the grocery store this weekend, I will definitely be getting the ingredients for this recipe. Goat cheese, garlic, and baguettes, OH MY!

Four words - Catholic priests dance off. You’re going to want to watch this video. I giggled out loud, got some weird looks on the bus, proceeded to giggle some more.

I just discovered the J. Crew baby collection. This could get deadly. Emma NEEDS this dress, like yesterday.

This new app that I am obsessed with. It’s called A Mommy App and it is absolutely adorable. You can track your children’s stats, likes, and dislikes. But my favorite feature is the stress relief. You can listen to soothing sounds when you just need a mommy-sized break. Definitely going in the permanent collection. A special thanks to Tiffany for providing this app.

I hope your weekend is just peachy

On blogging | A few favorites

WELP, I was supposed to see my patient this morning but there was a big ol’ mess up with my clinic chair situation so, long story short, I am writing a blog post instead. I did not have any posts loaded up in my back pocket, so I’ve decided to round up a few of my own favorite recent posts instead. Enjoy!

// The secrets to our happy marriage.

// The truth about pregnancy brain.

// A day in the life of the husband (part 1 and part 2).

// Stand up for something.

// Maternity photos.

// The importance of dating your husband.

// Mushroom and gorgonzola pasta.

// Newborn photos.

// So I had a baby.

// Baby Emma (month 1, month 2, month 3).

// Three things in three years.

// Awkward and awesome.

Any of your favorites pop up on this list? Happy thirsty Thursday! I might have a date with some wine tonight.

Links I love

Happy Friday everyone! This week felt pretty long even though it was a holiday week. I guess 3-day weekends are lost on me right now. While breastfeeding at all hours of the day, I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram. I mean, what else is there to do at 3 am while everyone else is asleep? So since I haven’t done a Links I Love post in a while – jeez – here are some recipes, posts, and general awesomeness from around the world wide web lately.

I cannot wait to make these blueberry cream cheese pastries

Summer is fast approaching so here are some baby-safe sunscreens

And speaking of summer, doesn’t this red wine granita with vanilla ice cream look perfect and refreshing for a hot summer’s day {or any day really}?

As I start to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes, I need to do a closet overhaul to see what I actually want to keep and what I would still like to get. This guide for editing your closet will come in handy.

I’m looking forward to the all-clear from my doc to start more rigorous exercise and this guide for 6 fun ways to get fit looks perfect.

Here is a tasty looking infographic for homemade salad dressings

Did you catch Emma’s one month update Wednesday? She is quickly moving through her milestones

Have a great weekend everyone! We plan on having a mojito party tomorrow, yum!

Links I love / V.7

Happy Friday to you all! This was my first full week of maternity leave and I definitely got a lot done to prepare for baby. On Tuesday, I wrote out my to-do list for all the last minute baby stuff and I have checked everything off of it! Whew.

Today I’m sharing my favorite links from this week. Enjoy!

2 :: Lena from Root and Blossom, and a dear bloggy friend of mine, wrote about the 5 Things She Has Learned About Postpartum. I’ve learned so much from you mommy blogs out there!

3 :: Talk about luxurious, this infographic with 12 Surprising Things to Add to Your Bath looks heavenly. I want to try them all.

4 :: I will be taking newborn photos of our little one {instead of getting professional photos} and I’ve found a lot of helpful tutorials online. This DIY Newborn Photography Tips article is great!

5 :: As I approach my due date, I’ve been feeling a lot of changes. This How To Tell If It’s Labor And Other Tips list is extremely informative and helpful.

I plan to take a lot of naps this weekend. I have not been sleeping well {big surprise}, as the insomnia has really kicked in. I have been waking up in the middle of the night with thoughts of our little one and all my hopes and anxieties rush in. I guess I’m training for the sleep deprivation marathon.
