Grammar Girl: An Introduction
Ever since I purchased my first copy of The Elements of Style by Strunk and White, I have been obsessed with grammar. (If you have never heard of it, then you need to go get one right now. Get both an old edition and a new edition. I promise you, it’s life changing. Or you will get stuck in a downward spiral and have a panic attack every time someone does not use an Oxford comma like I do.)
I am quite the grammar enthusiast (read, tyrant) and while I have been known to make up words for my blog posts, I do try to pay attention to my writing style. Therefore, I have decided to start a new series to share my obsession with you. I will be giving tips, tidbits, pointers, and all-around fun facts for all your grammar needs. If you do not have any grammar needs, then stop by for, what I am sure will be, many crazy adorations of the written word and rants about proper punctuation.

I will be doing my first Grammar Girl post soon, so stay tuned!
Have a wonderful Thursday.
Lately on the interwebs
I’ve had an absolutely insane-o morning already which made my tummy curl into knots. Stuff happens sometimes ya know? So instead of the relaxing morning off I had planned, my day off started a little late. Oh well, that’s life. ANY WHO…
I wanted to share some link-a-doos I’ve found on the interwebs lately. As I spent most of my commute combing the world wide web, I’ve found some good links for you to send you off into your weekend.
This beautiful print published on the Ruche blog this month. I was swooning all over the place.
Speaking of JK Rowling, some exciting news came our way when she announced a Halloween-inspired Harry Potter short story coming our way.
If I have any time to run to the grocery store this weekend, I will definitely be getting the ingredients for this recipe. Goat cheese, garlic, and baguettes, OH MY!
Four words - Catholic priests dance off. You’re going to want to watch this video. I giggled out loud, got some weird looks on the bus, proceeded to giggle some more.
I just discovered the J. Crew baby collection. This could get deadly. Emma NEEDS this dress, like yesterday.
This new app that I am obsessed with. It’s called A Mommy App and it is absolutely adorable. You can track your children’s stats, likes, and dislikes. But my favorite feature is the stress relief. You can listen to soothing sounds when you just need a mommy-sized break. Definitely going in the permanent collection. A special thanks to Tiffany for providing this app.
I hope your weekend is just peachy.
Ten things on a Tuesday
Every once in a while I do something or say something that I find completely bizarre and think, normal people do not do this. Then I remember that normal is all relative. Then I have to tell the voices to quiet down because Jeopardy is on. And you’re gone.
But I have to say, I get these completely random post ideas and think, hey that is a goodun, and obviously my decisions about this blog are all gems and I know you’ll love them. DANCE PRETTIES, DANCE.
JustkiddingIloveyou. And you’re definitely gone.
This sign at Trader Joe’s made me giggle way too much.
1. I religiously watch The World Series of Poker every year. I get completely caught up in the tournament. I usually say things like, fold you idiot and you’ll never win with a 3 and 7, off-suit.
2. I competed in a Toastmasters competition in elementary school. I lost in the semi-finals. I talked about Star Trek. Please don’t leave me.
3. I do not get grossed out easily. Shower hair balls, no problem. Blood, meh, no biggie.
4. I was a math minor in college for a brief second. Then I took calculus II and wanted to smash my head with my text book. I ended up getting minors in Chemistry and Philosophy. #nerd
5. I have very strong somatic responses to bad dreams. I sometimes wake up gasping, sweating, and crying. WAHHH.
6. I went to Girl Scout camp in elementary school and my nickname was Pinka. Don’t ask.
7. I become oddly mesmerized by infomercials and Law and Order re-runs.
8. One of my life mottos is If it’s not a right angle, it’s a wrong angle. (Name that show.)
9. There are several things I refuse to buy store brand or generic: Q-Tips, Lucky Charms, Chap Stick, and batteries.
10. I have never dyed my hair, ever.
What are some (odd/random) things about you? HAVE A HAPPEEEE TUESDUR (Wait, that’s not English. Happy Tuesday!)
Thursday Thoughts
ON GRAFFITI
Why? Just why? I’ve never understood the appeal of writing on public buildings. What’s worse is when people deface private residences, businesses, or even churches. WHAT? I just can’t. This is why we can’t have nice things. Has anyone heard of a notebook? Sketch pad? White board? Anything? Bueller?
ON INTERRUPTING CONVERSATIONS
I don’t know about you but I feel like there are two extremes to the interruption spectrum. On the one side there are those who will interrupt conversations anytime and with anyone. They will insert themselves and act like what is going on in their heads is pure gold (let meh tell yuh, it’s not). Then there is the other side of the spectrum where someone stands there awkwardly trying to figure out when to pause the conversation and ends up just giving up and leaving. I am definitely in the latter end of that spectrum. *cricket, cricket* Get with it Samantha.
ON ELECTION SEASON
The dreaded anticipated election season is upon us. I am being bombarded by this or that proposition every 0.3 seconds on TV and my head is just spinning. Someone is running for the district of whats-it and believes in something or other. Usually I vote “No” on things unless I firmly believe in the “Yes” side. I don’t know what it is about this election go around, but I’ve had it up to here. All I know is my vote is Dumbledore for president.
ON BEAUTY REGIMENS
Even on my most low-key day, I still have 13 million creams and lotions to apply. What is up with that?? Paul takes 0.2 seconds to go from the roll-out-of-bed look to the headed-to-the-opera look. Tell me how!? Yes I know this conundrum is self-inflicted but it seems kind of nuts that it has come to this. Facial cleanser, exfoliating brush, eye cream, serum, day lotion with SPF or night cream, make up, body lotion, hand cream, cream puffs, puff daddy. Jeez, never ending.
What are your random Thursday Thoughts?
