Life 365 | Week 44

We had quite the weekend over on these parts. Emma’s first Halloween was a success. We managed to keep her in her costume for a whole 10 minutes. New record! I’ll do a postaloo with lots of photos later.

On a sadder note, I hurt my left pinky and hand yesterday. I was the queen of spazz when I basically rammed my hand into a wooden chair. Picture stubbing your toe but with your hand. It hurts, it’s swollen, I can’t move it well, and the pain is shooting up my arm. I’m trying not to panic, because my hands are my money makers, but I have an appointment soon to get it checked out. Fingers crossed it’s just a bruise. Prayers my way please!

Happy November everyone! I cannot believe we only have two months left of 2014 and it’s less than two months until Christmas. My husband keeps asking me if I have “smelled Christmas yet”. Yes, I can smell when Christmas is coming. It’s a weird thing. Don’t ask. Stop looking at me like that.

Any who, here are last weeks photos coming your way!

TWENTY-SEVEN I just love watching these two play. She giggles. He giggles. She laughs so hard that she farts, he… moving on.

TWENTY-EIGHT Six months old! All you parents out there know this feeling… aww she’s sleeping, I miss her, I wish she were awake so I could see her laugh and smile, oh wait, she’s sleeping, I need to get some stuff done, don’t wake the baby!

TWENTY-NINE What a brave little toaster. She had her six months check up and vaccines. She was so brave and only cried a little bit. She fought off a fever for a couple days. I’m sorry! Please don’t run away from home. But I usually end up consoling Paul after her shots. He cries more than she does.

THIRTY Emma lost a battle with a sweet potato. Next up, Emma vs. squash. Let’s get ready to rumble!

THIRTY-ONE She’s our lobster (name that show!). Delicious, more butter and lemon next time though.

ONE Auntie Grace made this hat for Emma and it finally fits her. Adorableness ensues. Your ovaries are exploding now, admit it.

TWO “Hey puppy, move out of the way, I’m working on my yoga.” P.S. Look at that chunk o’ thigh. Nom nom.

Happy Monday!

Boo at the zoo

We had some family visit us this past weekend so we decided to take an impromptu trip to the San Francisco zoo. Being Halloween week, the theme was Boo at the Zoo. I know, adorable right? There were decorations everywhere and pumpkins in various states (eaten, stomped on, nested in, etc.) in with the animals. I think my favorite sighting was the pumpkin as burrow for a group of meerkats.

Paul, Emma, and I enjoyed spending time with our family and Emma especially enjoyed getting to spend time with her cousins. Our trip to the zoo was wonderful. I’m pretty sure Emma wishes she could take a ride on a giraffe.

There were kids dressed in costumes, parents running after said kids, and lots of animal butts. You’ll see what I mean.

We were sunscreened up, Emma had her monkey and lion blankets (because you know, zoo), and we were ready for an adventure.

There were beautiful creepy and slithery animals everywhere. This snake and I became fast friends. Too bad I never learned parseltongue.

This handler was dressed as Hermione. This iguana was dressed as a bigger iguana. I guess he ran out of ideas.

We walked past a huge furry butt sticking out of a hole. It ended up being this guy Mr. Polar Bear. Paul wondered why he wasn’t whiter. I said, um hello? dirt.

I fell in love with these two gorgeous grizzlies. They were fighting over a pair of shoes. True sisters.

Next came the greatest exhibit of all times. The penguins. I literally ran to them. I took 16 million photos and tried to swim with them. In case you didn’t know this about me, I am obsessed with penguins. They are my spirit animal.

I squealed. Security was called. Mothers shielded their children. Holy water was sprinkled. I squealed louder.

Look how adorable! You’re cute too Emma.

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Emma loved the giraffes. There was a baby that was only two months old. But still looked taller than the entire NBA standing on top of one another.

Family photo!

Her face just screams of joy, doesn’t it?

Oh speaking of giraffes. I’ll just take this one home with me.

Grandma Bev bought Emma this adorable shirt. Overall, I’d say this was a hoot and a half. We can’t wait to go again.

Woo hoo! We went to the zoo! Isn’t it coo(l)?

Life 365 | Week 43

Happy Monday, ya’ll. And by happy, of course I mean tolerate Monday, ya’ll.

I had a really nice weekend. So nice that I was convinced it would never end. I was planning out what I wanted to do on my Sunday when it turns out, it was already 3pm on Sunday. Poop. Time flies when you’re having fun. #cliché

Emma turns six months old tomorrow. Oh what was that sound you ask? Oh yes, that’s me sobbing in the corner picturing my baby going off to college. It’s a good thing she has already agreed to let me move away to the dorms with her.

She has a doc appointment on Wednesday so we get to have her stats updated and start our course in Baby Food 101. I’ll do her monthly update after her appointment. :]

Here are last week’s photos. P.S. Can you believe there are less than 10 weeks left of 2014? Say what?

TWENTY She does everything with her pacifier besides suck on it - chew, bite, throw. I’m pretty sure I saw her use it to level out a wobbly table the other day.

TWENTY-ONE Big girl got to sit in her big girl stroller for the first time. She loved it. I told her next time she pushes me.

TWENTY-TWO We had taco night on Wednesday. Emma told us she wanted jalapeños in her guacamole. I said no way, not until you’re at least 3 years old.

TWENTY-THREE She immediately reminded me of a turtle. She got stuck. I laughed. We had a grand old time.

TWENTY-FOUR I can’t tell if she’s sucking her thumb or giving me an “atta girl”.

TWENTY-FIVE This girl has like three really long hairs in the front. I’m thinking mohawk hair style soon.

TWENTY-SIX Her eyebrows are my Achilles heel.

Have a nice Halloween week everyone!

13.WHATTTT

On Sunday, I ran my third half marathon. Three years ago, if you would have told me that I would run even half that I’d tell you no way. If you would have told me that I would have run that while pregnant and even six months postpartum I would have told you that you were extra crazy girlfriend.

Well, you may still be cray cray, but I still did it. And truth be told, these have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of my life. I feel like Samantha Warrior Princess. *punches a wall and rips a deck of cards in half* Okay maybe I shouldn’t be punching walls.

I wasn’t planning on running for a specific time this go-around. I just wanted to cross that finish line, get my Tiffany bling, and then jump into a bath of ice cubes. But about half-way through, I told myself to run it in under 3 hours and by George! I did it. Somehow. I’m still convinced little faeries had to pick me up carry me over those last few miles and that mountain at mile ten. Thanks magic faeries. I owe ya one.

So the sun was still playing hide-and-seek when I went downtown on Sunday morning. But somehow all of us fools runners were excited and full of energy as we lined up in our corrals.

This is the face of an insane person who decided to run 13.1 miles (without really training and carrying some extra baby chub of my own in my rear end).

YAY! Our group (oh hayyyy ladies) was finally able to cross the start line about 45 minutes after the official start. Basically Nike Women’s was telling us that the slow pokes should be in the back. That’s okay though. I would probably have gotten whip lash from watching the faster gals pass by me.

Any who, no matter the speed at which you run, it is a very empowering experience. The hills alone will test your willpower. Especially when all you want is a damn cookie and a nap and you stare up a San Francisco hill that might as well be called a summit.

My obligatory action shot. Oh hey, that sweat is just so attractive. At certain points I couldn’t tell if it was morning dew dripping down my front or my own sweat. I don’t really know if I want to find out that answer.

They really needed a sign that said “WE RUN BUT ALSO WALK A LOT AND ACTUALLY WISH WE WERE CRAWLING”. Where is my cookie?

Praise the sweet baby Jesus. Also, thank God for foggy mist which usually pisses me off to no end but kept me blissfully cool throughout this expedition. #allhailJesus

YOU MADE IT!* (*with or without your legs still intact.)

Not bad for a baby mama who hasn’t seen the good side of a night’s sleep since 1995.

LET'SBEHONEST. I was only there for the bling. Oh hey there gorgeous.

2012 || 2013

2014

I don’t believe that I will be running the Nike Women’s Half Marathon next year because I don’t really know where I’ll be yet after graduation. But I know that I will run this race again. This race and Nike Women’s will always have a special place in my heart.

What do you think, Disney Half next? If you need me, I’m still limping over there.
