Life 365 | Week 48

I am in complete denial that my mini-vacation is over. Say it isn’t so! OH WELL. I’ve successfully eaten all the foods, avoided the Black Friday craziness, and managed to get some rest and relaxation. Although we weren’t able to spend this holiday with our families, they were still in our hearts. And our dear friends Grace and Brian invited us over for a Thanksgiving meal on Friday so we got to experience the traditional stuff-your-face fest.

Emma had a bought of projectile vomiting on Thursday which had us worried, but she’s better now. Thank the Lord.

Now that I’ve had a taste of vacation, I am itching for the Christmas break. Paul and I will be heading to Southern California then having a little getaway just the three of us for the New Year. I don’t know what we are doing yet. Paul has planned a surprise vacation for us. The type-A, crazy, control-freak in me is completely fine with not knowing where we are going or what we are doing (I’m not okay with it, *eye twitch*). But he is so tickled about planning it, so I must relinquish the reigns and go with it. Is my eye still twitching?

Here are last week’s photos.

TWENTY-FOUR I feel like I caught her in the middle of doing something naughty. I know what you’re doing girl, you can’t fool me. You’re pooping aren’t you?

TWENTY-FIVE We are still trying to figure out the sippy cup thing. So far, half the contents of each cup has ended up spilling down her front, so we’re getting there.

TWENTY-SIX Me seven months ago: “I am not going to spoil my children.”

Me today: “OHMYGOSH I am buying that and that and ooo, that.”

Dear Lord help me. But at least she loves her new elephant sit-and-ride.

TWENTY-SEVEN I am thankful for these two gems. Oh so thankful.

TWENTY-EIGHT Emma’s turkey bib was too much. I’m a sucker for holiday gear.

TWENTY-NINE We took a late-afternoon stroll near a creek by our apartment. The colors in the sky were mesmerizing. Do you see the pimple on my face?

THIRTY Today, on the last day of November, we went to mass then had a pj-movie-stay-in day. Like I said, denial.

December starts tomorrow! WHATTTTT?! This is my favorite time of year. Happy holidays everyone.

Life 365 | Weeks 46 and 47

I know what you’re thinking… "Oh my! Is that what I think it is?“

Then you would be correct! Yes, it’s my honors thesis from college. I know you all want to learn about the extra eye mutation in fruit flies. Nope? Just me? Moving on.

Well I finally have a breather over here to share with you some pic-a-doos from the last two weeks! I know, you’ve missed me. Oh wait, just Emma. That’s cool too. I see how it is.

Although Paul has always been a very hands-on dada and equally shares our household duties hoopla, he’s really picked up his game lately. He allowed me to have some serious alone time with my dental books. I don’t know whether to be grateful or hit someone with that book. But I survived another board exam. WHEW.

This is a short week for some reason, oh yes, THANKSGIVING! Or as Phoebe Buffay would say, "Happy needless turkey murder day.” I hope you all have a wonderful time with your loved ones. I will be up to my elbows in honey ham and cranberry sauce.

Now for the photos. That’s why we are all here isn’t it?

TEN I feel like she’s posing for her realtor billboard. “Why yes, I would love to talk to you about your housing needs."

ELEVEN Someone discovered the joys of shadows. Something cats have been enjoying for all of time.

TWELVE "Ha ha, I can see up your nose."

THIRTEEN #eyebrows That is all.

FOURTEEN I guess kicking mama in the face is a sign of affection. Things sure have changed since I was a kid.

FIFTEEN I kept telling him that using two hands is cheating. But he was in the zone.

SIXTEEN I think this is Emma’s idea of a fainting couch. So dramatic.

SEVENTEEN Yes, we decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving. Well, I am THANKFUL for the coming of the BABY JESUS. And Christmas lights. And Christmas music. And mistletoe. And hot cocoa. And peppermint flavored things. And… well you get the picture.

EIGHTEEN Okay, so this Sophie the Giraffe, I get it now. Babies love that thing. She hasn’t put it down since we got it. I guess they put some baby-nip on it.

NINETEEN #eyebrows 2.0 And okay, can we talk about white onesies. They go with everything right? Well I also believe they are a universal baby symbol for, "let’s have a blowout”. I guess that’s why they come in packs of five.

TWENTY Apparently I said something really funny. Or she farted. Yeah, it was probably that.

TWENTY-ONE The three of us went out for sushi and Emma sat in the big girl high chair. The server also brought Emma her own little water. You better believe she spilled that down her front.

TWENTY-TWO I was greeted by this face after my exam. I’m going to keep it real with you all, Paul and Emma make it all worth it. I do this for you two.

TWENTY-THREE Emma “helped” with the laundry. Meaning she dog-piled on the warm clothes and tried to shove socks in her mouth. Thank God they were clean.

We are having a special guest over tomorrow night! Our local priest is coming over to prepare us for Emma’s upcoming Baptism. If any of you are near Santa Clarita, CA on December 21st, please come to Emma’s Baptism. I’ll be the one crying. She’ll be the one in white.

Have a great week my friends. Gobble gobble.

Life 365 | Week 45

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Emma and I have school off today, yay! But we (meaning I) have a lot of chores and other to-dos to get done today so I am just popping by to dump some cuteness on your face.

Is this the little girl I carried…!? (NAME THAT SONG)

My pumpkin butt is doing some serious standing and cruising. She even gets so far as to gently rest one hand up against support and pivot her weight. She’s going to be walking before I know it. Why yes, that’s mommy sobbing in the corner. My tiny teacup chihuahua is getting so big.

Here are last week’s photos. Enjoy!

THREE See what I mean? Absolute show-off. And now I’m sobbing again.

FOUR This girl is one adorable puddle of chub. I have nothing else to say about this photo besides that.

FIVE Emma and I have been watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I keep saying that we will be like Lorelai and Rory, then she rolls her eyes and tells me that we can never have that relationship until I give her coffee in her bottle.

SIX This girl is the definition of cool. All she needs is a leather jacket and sunglasses. I draw the line at the James Dean cigarette.

SEVEN Just two girls heading home from school. I look overjoyed at the weekend. She looks pissed that I tore her away from the 1.3 million toys and all her buddies at preschool. And can we talk about her Donald Trump combover she’s got going on.

EIGHT TINY peplum, TINY jeggings, and TINY moccasins. You’re welcome.

NINE You have some good drool there girlfriend. And yes, those are seahorses and crabs on her pants.

The rest of the month will be pretty busy my friends so I don’t know how often I’ll be posting. It might be a good time to take a mini-break, but we will see. But to be sure you don’t miss this pudding’s face too much, be sure to follow us along on Instagram.

At the moment

Apparently, sleeping in is a thing of the past. I fought it as long as possible. I kicked, I screamed, I wailed. I thought, How could it be so? Say it isn’t so! If I just stay in bed, surely sleeping in will occur! Alas, I will just have to change the definition of sleeping in to 6 am.

Did I mention that it’s Saturday?

Good thing the coffee is a flowin’.

Here is what I am up to at the moment.

READINGThe Mortal Instruments City of Ashes. I cannot put it down.

EATING Quiche from Trader Joe’s. Come to mama.

DRINKING My new White Chocolate Peppermint rooibos tea from Teavana.

WEARING My new leather ankle booties. They keep my feet warmer than ballet flats and go with everything.

SMELLING This cinnamon whisk from Trader Joe’s. It wafts its gloriousness every time we open and close our door.

STUDYING For the written portion of my dental license exam. Think of me on November 22nd.

LISTENING To 1989 on repeat. And also my first bit of Christmas music for the season.

LOVING My new iPhone 6. The screen! The picture quality! Drool.

ENJOYING Introducing Emma to different solid foods. So far she’s tried applesauce, banana, squash, sweet potato, berries, toys, her own feet, and mama’s clothing.

RECOVERING From a pinky finger sprain.

WATCHING Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Obviously.

SHARING My November devotion on Blessed Is She.

Paul is still in Tahoe for a boys trip. He’s been having so much fun - fishing, gambling, golfing, and sharing their deepest secrets over ice cream. Boys do that right? Emma and I are holding down the fort. Send food!

Happy weekending!
